SPRING CLINICS

2^nd and 3^rd grade Modified

This program is for CURRENT 2^nd and 3^rd graders who are interested in playing Modified Flag next fall.  Kids will be fitted for only “uppers” helmets and shoulder pads and being to learn drills and skills for playing Modified in pads including blocking, shedding blocks, plays and terminology, moving to ball etc.  Modified is a program new last year in which kids play 9 vs. 9 against other towns with the 2 grades playing together.  We had 30 kids participate and came in 1^st and 3^rd in the league in the regular season, we anticipate over 50-60 kids this year since families now have an understanding of the program.  We are working on cutting some film to be able to show how fun it is and sending out shortly.  The “tackle” is made by flag pull.  We think this is a great bridge for kids who love flag football and have interest in playing other towns and getting used to wearing pads.  It has also shown to be a great entry for families to start to learn about the tackle program for future years and see the changes that have occurred in coaching Youth football.  The program will be held on Monday nights after 3/4^th grade Spring Flag concludes.  Please note any 2^nd graders interested in the clinic will have their normal flag team on Sunday AM and this would be in addition on Monday evening.  The cost if already enrolled in spring flag will be $50, for kids not enrolled in spring flag the cost will be $100 and will run on Monday evenings after the conclusion of spring flag session at Sullivan Field.  Coaches will be a mix of 2^nd and 3^rdgrader parents with help from high school coaching support.

4^th Grade Tackle Clinic

This program is for CURRENT 4^th graders who have interest in trying tackle out in an informal setting during the spring to get ready for the fall.  Kids will be in “uppers” only (helmet and shoulder pads).  The goal is to ensure kids begin to learn the concepts of full tackle football including blocking, terminology, offense install and tackling on dummies and pads to work on proper techniques.  We think this is a great way for kids and parents to enter into tackle football so that they will understand the correct and safe way to do all of these skills.  We also think it is a great time to start to have the kids play and work together so when fall season commences they will be ready as they start to play other towns.  The cost if already enrolled in spring flag will be $50, for kids not enrolled in spring flag the cost will be $100 and will run on Monday evenings after the conclusion of spring flag session at Sullivan Field.  Coaches will be 4^th grade parents with support from high schools.

5^th through 7^th Grade Tackle Clinic

This program is for CURRENT 5^th through 7^th graders who have interest in trying tackle out/or building on the progress from last season over the course of 8 sessions this spring (Monday nights avoiding Spring Break and Memorial day, March 30^th through June 8^th).  The goal is for players to learn tackle football techniques and increase their comfort with some of the equipment (helmet and shoulder pads) and start to learn about the FYF program.  Sessions will focus on tackling form, blocking, terminology, as well as offensive & defensive schemes.  This will not be full contact.  We think this is a great way for kids and parents to get introduced to tackle football.  Younger returning tackle players will appreciate the refresher to get ready for the fall season as well as meet some of our incoming new players. The cost if already enrolled in spring flag will be $50, for kids not enrolled in spring flag the cost will be $100 and will run on Monday evenings after the conclusion of spring flag session at Sullivan Field (expected 6:30-7:30pm)  Coaches will include some of our 5-7th grade team coaches along with support from our local high schools.

TOWN FEE NOTE: Those players registered for Spring have already paid the Town Fee. For those players not already registered for Spring Flag, there will be a Town Fee of $25 per player added to your registration in addition to the registration fee.
